Production Technology (Smart Factory)
The smart factory envisioned by G-TEKT is one in which AI governs all production activities.
AI continuously monitors every process from input to output, and, using accumulated production data, makes decisions and executes accurate, efficient operations free of waste. All factories are interconnected in real time, providing the flexibility to respond instantly to sudden changes.
As the first step toward realizing our Smart Factory vision, the Nansha Plant (Guangdong Province, China) and the Chubu Plant (Gifu Prefecture, Japan), which both began operations in 2025, have implemented full automation of in-plant logistics and labor-saving measures in manufacturing processes. As a result, many employees have been freed from monotonous, physically demanding tasks and are now engaged in more creative work. We will continue to drive further evolution and accelerate global rollout to factories worldwide.
Business Transformation through DX
G-TEKT’s DX initiatives target two key areas: enhancing reliability in quality and increasing corporate value through cost optimization. By leveraging data from all global sites, we aim to achieve new‑model development with zero defects and optimal cost—not only on the production floor but from the earliest stages of development.
In the quality domain, we utilize AI to analyze global quality data, prevent defects at production sites, and feed insights back into the development phase to eliminate issues before they occur.
In the cost domain, we use real production data to obtain accurate cost performance and highly precise forecasts, enabling high‑impact improvements and the realization of optimal costs.
This DX initiative is being strongly promoted company-wide under the leadership of the President, with the DX Promotion Department playing a central role.
Design Proposal Capabilities
The typical development cycle for a vehicle spans about three to five years, and G-TEKT becomes involved from the very earliest stages of new model development. Based on the design requirements of automotive OEMs, we propose optimal vehicle body designs by applying a wide range of simulation technologies, including body-in-white (BIW) structural analysis . This series of design proposal activities—referred to as “guest engineering”—is a testament to the trust our customers place in G-TEKT’s technical expertise and proposal capabilities.
Global Quality Assurance Structure
One of G-TEKT’s key strengths is the ability to deliver consistently high-quality products from any of our 30 production sites worldwide. This consistency is supported by a globally integrated quality assurance structure. In 2021, we established the G-TEKT Quality Assurance Center (GQC), which centralizes quality data from all sites to enable real-time monitoring. Looking ahead, we will link this structure with our digital transformation (DX) initiatives to establish mechanisms that both prevent defects and eliminate their recurrence.
